Compiled based on data collected from the kebebasanberkesenian.id website

2024
According to 2024 records, the state is not only neglecting its citizens' rights but is also directly violating artistic freedom. Unlike the pattern of “horizontal violations” had peaked during the presidential and regional head elections in 2014 - 2016; the state is now again the most prominent violating actor.

2023
During the regime change, artistic freedom is at a daunting crossroads. Threats come from many directions. In 2023, the limitation of access for marginalized communities becomes the central issue. Gender, ethnic, and religion are reasons for repression.

2022
Our media monitoring throughout 2022 has revealed that art often faces bans fueled by the stigma embedded in many regional regulations. Moreover, artistic spaces still remain unsafe for women and gender minorities. It's crucial to maintain regular monitoring involving artists, human rights activists, and media professionals to fortify our safety network.

2021
In this report, we included cases of event cancellations in 2020 under the pretext of Covid-19 health protocols to illustrate potential violations of artistic freedom with public health concerns as justifications.

2010-2020
In 2020, Koalisi Seni, supported by UNESCO through the Funds-In-Trust Korea scheme, conducted a literature review on cases of violations of artistic freedom from 2010 to 2020.
